Hints
for getting good results:
Our
model railway search engine is the result of the most frequently
asked queries and some programming experience :-). You may
combine all fields for a search; less fields bring more results.
Looking for Swiss goods wagons? - Class 42 steam locos?- New
items of your favourite manufacturer? Available versions of
the Taurus loco? - Want a quick quote for 10 item numbers
of a certain modeltrain brand? Here is the How-To:
Textsearch:
Perfect, if you are not sure of item number or manufacturer.
Just enter a known part of the model description BUT (yet)
in German Language! - Also, be aware that computers are no
train enthusiasts; at least ours does not yet know that e.g.
canguroo wagons are called 'Taschenwagen' as well as 'Känguruh'
or even 'Hupac' wagons sometimes. So try different searches
like 'Taschenw OR Känguruh'.
Further,
think of different ways of writing: Searching for 'E10
OR E 10'
will produce more results than searching for 'E
10'
or
'E10'
alone.
Search
for item numbers: An easy way to prepare your orders.
After having chosen a manufacturer, you may enter (almost)
any number of item-numbers of THE SAME manufacturer in this
field. - Our programme assembles an individual pricelist for
you with solely the models chosen. Perfect, if you have a
catalogue in front of you and want a couple of prices displayed
or if you are looking for a couple of missing models in your
collection. If you want to know if there is a variation available
of a certain model, just enter e.g. Roco 46579 - did you know
that they made nine different versions of this wagon?
Makers:
If you are looking for item numbers, we need to know the corresponding
manufacturer. In other cases it may be interesting to omit
the maker for getting to know if the model is offered by different
manufacturers - probably in different variations, too. So
you may find models you even did not know of.
Abbreviations:
We encourage you to enter only the first part of a search-word,
like e.g. 'Taschenw'.
You will get more results by searching 'off
Güterw' instead of 'offener
Güterwagen' since many times the item descriptions
contain abbreviations like e.g. 'off. Güterwg.' - Again,
be aware of different ways of writing: 'E-Lok
OR Ellok' will work fine to get electric locomotives.
Searching for 'Tender'
delivers Tenderlok als well as Tender-Dampflok and Tenderlokomotive.
Even better, search for 'Dampf
OR Tender'
to find even more steam locos. If a search for 'BR
1044' does not succeed, try '1044'
only. - After all, if your search brings no result, we invite
you automatically to leave your eMail to get a response from
a human being at Hobbysommer's.
Since
we did the programming of the search engine ourselves, we
may improve the system at any time as requests occur. We invite
you to drop your suggestions at any time.
